FISHING CURRENTLY - RIVER PARRETTThe River Parrett has been fishing well for pleasure anglers. Main area at the moment seems to be between the Town Bridge and the railway bridge. This section of the river is producing catches of roach, skimmer bream the odd 'proper' bream. However, the roach are starting to show on Cocklemoor - Fran Deacon had over 10lb of roach near the end of October.

FISH STOCKING IN THE RIVER PARRETTOn Tuesday 3rd November, the Environment Agency (EA) stocked the river at Westover Pumping Station with 20,000 yearling chub, dace, roach and bream from their Calverton fish farm near Nottingham. This was to supplement the 20,000 fish stocked last year after the pollution.Press and media were invited to report the event - I was even interviewed about last year's polution by the BBC Spotlight camera crew. A few people must have choked on their tea, that night, when they saw me on their TV !!!Seriously, many thanks to the EA for the extra fish stocks - they will sustain and improve our sport on the river as they grow over the coming years.
